Parent Reviews
“Before working with Laurie, my daughter Reece, was struggling with reading. Despite being bright, she had memorized words rather than truly learning to read, which became a significant concern by first grade. Then, just as we were grappling with how to help her, the world shut down due to COVID. As a parent, I felt lost - I had no idea how to teach a child to read. By the time she returned to school full-time in second grade, she still lacked a strong reading foundation, and it deeply affected her confidence.
That’s when we found Laurie. Using the Orton-Gillingham approach, she not only taught Reece how to read but also transformed her confidence and comprehension skills. The structured, multi-sensory technique Laurie used was incredibly effective - I truly believe this method should be implemented in all schools, especially for children with learning differences.
When Reece started second grade, her reading skills were below grade level, as reflected in her state testing. By the end of the year, she had one of the highest reading scores in her class. While Reece is a determined and hardworking child, even she will tell you that Mrs. Laurie had a tremendous impact on her success. Laurie was patient, encouraging, and knew exactly how to push Reece to reach her full potential.
I can’t recommend Laurie highly enough. If your child is struggling with reading, she is the person who will make all the difference. “

“Laurie has been instrumental in helping my son improve his skills in both reading and math. Thanks to her expert guidance and dedication, our son has made incredible progress, advancing from testing below grade level to at or above grade level in both subject areas. Laurie’s approach has always been patient, engaging, and tailored to our son’s needs, making learning both effective and enjoyable. We’re so grateful for the positive impact Laurie has had on his academic growth and confidence in the classroom!”
